Teammeter @ DB Systel

Interview with Laura Steurer, Project Manager for HR Digitalization at DB Systel GmbH.

DB Systel GmbH, based in Frankfurt am Main, is a wholly owned subsidiary of DB AG and a digital partner for all group companies. With its comprehensive, customer-specific offering, DB Systel drives the digitalization of all DB AG companies. The company develops effective and efficient customer solutions based on innovative topics such as cloud, big data, Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence. Currently, approximately 7,000 employees work at the main locations in Frankfurt, Berlin, and Erfurt, as well as other subsidiary locations. They work in self-organized teams and in company-wide networks to best support corporate partners and their variable needs using flexible working methods and agile approaches.

Why did you introduce Teammeter in your organization?

Teammeter has become an integral part of our team and organizational development. Before introducing the three modules Health Check, Retro, and Competency Management, we often had to rely on a “black box” approach: we knew that something was happening in the teams, but we never really knew what the exact needs and issues of the teams were. By using Teammeter and the active use of the application by the teams, we can now look into the heart of the organization and understand what drives the teams.

What advantages has Teammeter brought?

The provision of concrete methods through the application greatly facilitates team development within individual teams. The competency management overview also gives teams clarity about their existing and missing competencies. Besides focusing on team development, individual employee development is also coming to the forefront. Through targeted competency development plans, it is transparently traceable which development measures have been agreed upon between managers and employees and which competencies are to be strengthened. This eliminates the need for additional documentation, allowing development discussions to directly address results and further development.

How did you manage the introduction of Teammeter in your organization?

When introducing Teammeter, we actively involved our stakeholders and continued this approach beyond the rollout. We consistently aligned our requirements with the needs of the users and informed them of updates and progress during user sessions. The number of over 5,000 voluntary users out of about 7,000 active employees confirms our approach and encourages us to continue using Teammeter.

How was the collaboration with AgileValue?

So far, AgileValue has been able to provide a tailored solution for almost every one of our requests or offer a standard solution within the tool.
